History

Established in 1997-1998 in Mudhol by Dr. Murugesh R. Nirani, the facility initially operated as Khandasari Sugar Factory with a crushing capacity of 500 TCD. Recognizing the need for innovation and efficiency, it became the first in India to integrate advanced technologies that redefined sugar manufacturing standards. Adopting a high-pressure boiler (32 ATA) and a multiple-effect evaporator, along with captive power generation, significantly enhanced operational efficiency, energy optimization and cost-effectiveness. These strategic advancements streamlined production and reinforced the factory’s commitment to sustainability and industry leadership, setting new benchmarks in modern sugar processing.

Our Founder

Dr. Murugesh R. Nirani, a visionary leader, began his journey in 1995, driven by a mission to transform rural India and empower communities. Under his leadership, Nirani Sugars supports over 3.5 lakh farmers, embodying a deep-rooted commitment to sustainable, community-centered growth. What began as a humble initiative has evolved into a diversified conglomerate, shaping industries and impacting countless lives across various sectors. Dr. Nirani's mission to uplift agrarian communities remains the driving force of the group, inspiring initiatives that foster progress, resilience and prosperity in rural India. Dr. Nirani has served twice as Karnataka's Minister of Industries, spearheading industrial growth and development. He has also held the Minister of Mines and Geology position, playing a key role in managing Karnataka's mineral resources. Additionally, he has been elected as an MLA three times, representing Bilagi in Bagalkot District, demonstrating his dedication to public service and commitment to his community.
